RI Teacherfest 2019

Teaching all students to think and reason is perhaps the greatest challenge we face as math educators. The eight standards for mathematical practices found in the Common Core Standards for Mathematics are our best articulation to date of what it means to think (and work!) like a mathematician. Yet, teachers are still left with many questions -- What does it look like when students are using the practices?  How do I build them into an already packed curriculum?  What about students who struggle in math, how do I ensure that all of my students develop the practices?  This session will address questions like these and offer a viable approach to placing the math practices at the center of math learning and doing for all students.
