Kay Scheidler

Dr. Kay Scheidler is a former teacher and English department chair, Hope High School, Providence, and former Board member and president of the RI Council of Teachers of English, also teaching Methods of Teaching English and supervising student teachers with the Brown Education Department while teaching at Hope.  After completing her doctorate at the School of Education, Boston University, Scheidler moved to Massachusetts district administration to assist teachers with MCAS.  Scheidler is author, Standards Matter: The Why and What of Common Core State Standards in Reading and Writing.  A long-time Providence resident, Scheidler currently provides distance learning courses in creating effective Professional Learning Communities for collaborative problem-solving, developing student writing, and honing classroom skills on developing student understandings needed for MCAS and RICAS.  Kay has an MAT from Brown and CAS from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
